What do I love about Christmas? Everything
For me Christmas is a very special time of joy
Though I ‘m a grown up, I’m like a child with a new toy
Bright coloured lights on gaily decorated trees
Carols and the ring of silver bells on the breeze
Decorated wreaths, ivy, holly and mistletoe
The scent of bay berry, cedar and pine tied with a bow
The hustle and bustle while I shop for gifts
Seeing children excited about Santa, my spirit lifts
Greetings in Christmas cards to folks near and far
A tradition I refuse to let the high cost of stamps mar
Electronics galore, cell phones, DVD players and a PDA
Game consoles and cartridges, iPods and what may
Old fashioned toys, ice skates, sleds, trains and games
Wrapping presents for everyone on my list of names
Soft tissue sheets of coloured red, green or white
Enclose items I hope will bring a smile bright
Shiny gay paper tied with ribbons and bows
Sharing special times with family and friends
Turkey and stuffing, cranberries and mince meat pie
Fruitcake and Christmas pudding I’ll make or buy
Gingerbread, shortbread, sugar plums and other delights
Every inch of downtown, decorated with sparkly lights
Gentle falling snow, unique in each flake
A fort, or snowman or snow angles I’ll make
Candles and carols after church on Christmas Eve
In the peace and joy of the season make me believe
It’s a time to forgive, forget and try not to think about war
But rather think on the hope and joy a little babe born poor
For me Christmas is a very special time of joy
Though I ‘m a grown up, I’m like a child with a new toy
